Kristin Roth-Schrefer on the High Line

Kristin Roth-Schrefer is the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications at Friends of the High Line, where she leads a unified marketing and communications strategy across every traditional and cutting-edge tactical channel in a strong organization’s toolkit.

Roth-Screfer’s two-and-a-half-decade-plus career has spanned the media, arts and entertainment, environmental, health, financial services, consumer goods, philanthropic, and nonprofit sectors. After many years working for national media companies, she translated her experience as an award-winning journalist into a record of achievement in leading teams in integrated communications and marketing strategies that elevate organizational impact, health, and effectiveness alongside brand resonance and visibility.

Prior to joining Friends of the High Line, Roth-Schrefer served as Communications Director at the Doris Duke Foundation, where she established and oversaw the enterprise-wide communications strategy for the multi-billion-dollar foundation’s national grant-making programs as well as its environmental center, Duke Farms, and museum, Shangri La. She has additionally served in marketing and communications roles at American Express, Bank of America/Merrill Lynch, and Bertelsmann Music Group, and worked as a writer, editor, and producer for media companies, ranging from Rolling Stone and MTV to Newsweek and Popular Mechanics, among many others.

Roth-Schrefer also served on the communications advisory committees for Philanthropy New York for six years as well as the Presidents’ Council on Disability Inclusion in Philanthropy for four years. Across her career, her work has garnered awards, including but not limited to recognition from Hearst, the North American Travel Journalists Association, American Express, the Association of Marketing & Communications Professionals, Ragan, and the Telly Awards. She holds a Bachelor of Science in journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
