Due to heavy rain in the forecast, tonight’s High Line Tour: From Freight to Flowers has been canceled. We look forward to seeing you on a future tour!
The High Line is a public park and a free resource for young people to engage in hands-on learning about horticulture, public art, urban ecology, infrastructure reuse, and New York City history. While visiting the High Line school groups can experience these disciplines firsthand.

We’re excited to announce that school tours at the High Line are being reimagined! While we pause our guided school tours for a revamp, we invite school groups to explore the park on self-guided experiences. Self-guiding on the park is always free for visiting school groups and is a great way to enhance in-the-classroom learning.
As you plan your visit, please note that we require groups to be no larger than 15 people at a time to ensure the best experience for all visitors. Larger groups are encouraged to split into smaller groups and explore the park in different sections.
Our self-guided tours offer an engaging way to experience the unique blend of urban gardens, public art, infrastructure reuse, and NYC history that the High Line offers. We encourage educators and students to explore at their own pace, using the park as a living classroom.
Whether you are exploring our urban gardens, public art installations, or the High Line’s role in transforming New York’s landscape, there’s something for everyone.
We encourage all visiting schools to email us at schools@thehighline.org so we may approve the dates of your visit and to avoid overcrowding in the park.
The High Line offers standards-aligned teaching tools for schools and educators. These free educational resources enable students to learn about public art, horticulture, history, design, and engineering in participatory and meaningful ways. Contact us at schools@thehighline.org to receive free downloadable learning resources for exploring the park with you to enhance your visit.

Educational Partnerships
Through partnerships with New York City public schools, the High Line connects local students with urban green space and learning resources directly in the park. Our interdisciplinary, place-based approach encourages young people to explore and think critically about science, history, art, civic engagement and more.
