Chronic Knots (We’re in the park)
Afra Al Dhaheri (b. 1988, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates) lives and works in Abu Dhabi.
Chronic Knots (We’re in the park) is a circular installation of leaning stainless-steel poles and suspended cotton ropes. Drawing on the forms of palm trees, hair, and merry-go-rounds, the work creates a space of movement, tension, and connectivity. As part of the artist’s ongoing exploration into hair as a site of memory, identity, and cultural expectations, the knotted ropes become bodily extensions that suggest both support and exhaustion.
