Kei Imazu (b. 1980, Yamaguchi, Japan) lives and works in Bandung, Indonesia.
Current draws on a 1667 commercial exchange between the Dutch and the English in which Manhattan was traded for Run, a small island in Indonesia. A layered sequence of forms—oyster shell, nautilus, and suspended oceanic imagery—traces how land became a resource within global systems of trade and extraction. Air plants at the top reflect the present city, linking past ecologies to ongoing cycles of value and exploitation.
