Nike 2.0: Sleeping Guards
Selma Selman (b. 1991, Bihać, Bosnia and Herzegovina) lives and works in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and New York, New York.
Nike 2.0: Sleeping Guards transforms two recycled airplane wings into a monumental sculpture with painted female figures in states of sleep, rest, and dream. Designed for flight but now grounded, the wings reinterpret the classical image of Winged Victory of Samothrace through contemporary industrial materials. The work presents stillness rather than action, centering rest as its defining visual and conceptual condition.
