Central American Interstellar Bus Voyager
Simón Vega (b. 1972, San Salvador, El Salvador) lives and works in La Libertad, El Salvador.
Central American Interstellar Bus Voyager combines the form of a stele—an ancient style of monument in the form of a slab of wood or stone—and a spacecraft. Its surface is made from parts inspired by decorated Central American buses, with bright colors, chrome details, and painted patterns. Bringing together ancient monuments, everyday transportation, and futuristic imagery, the work reflects on cycles of time, movement, and transformation across past, present, and future.
