Raphaela Vogel (b. 1988, Nuremberg, Germany) lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
The Second Opinion reimagines the allegorical language of public monuments through the recurring symbols associated with justice: scales and eyes. Replacing the traditional blind figure of Justice with a seeing one, the sculpture draws on both legal symbolism, as well as the story of Saint Lucy. Together, its elements propose a vision of justice that remains open to reflection and reconsideration.
