Quest to Learn CASA Plant Art - After School Program

The High Line partnered with Quest to Learn Middle School to host the Plant Art program. During the course of the after-school program, students learned about the beauty, majesty, and ecological importance of trees in urban spaces. Teaching artist Gregory Corbino guided students through a multi-session residency that aligned with Quest to Learn’s game-design curricular model. Class time included investigating the monumental sculpture Old Tree by Pamela Rosenkranz, now on public view at the High Line, and exploring the species of trees that are cultivated on the High Line park and what makes them significant. Students created their own tree myth scrolls, playable tree card games, and 3-D tree sculptures that were showcased on the High Line in a culminating exhibition for families on the park.
